Inexpensive Wedding
Flowers
With the volume of items required for a
wedding, the list of expenses always seems to grow faster
than the budget. One area where a bride can cut a few
corners without having to leave anything out is the flower
budget. The availability of beautiful but inexpensive
wedding flowers is something every bride should consider.
These cost savvy options are creative, unique and a
welcomed change to the typical wedding floral arrangements
and bouquets.
Inexpensive wedding flowers are an easy way to cut a
potentially hefty floral budget. Certain flower types are much
more cost efficient and will allow you to get more for your
money. What might have been a sparse bouquet of roses can be a
full and elegant bouquet of blooms such as daisies. Many brides
think only of the white daisies with yellow centers and worry
these will not match the color scheme or be too bland. However,
the white flowers can be a great base for a bouquet tied with
ribbons made of satin or tulle that matches your color
pallet.
Daisies, Sunflowers and Carnations
Daisies also come in several varieties and colors beyond
white, including the popular Gerber daisies that typically have
larger blooms than traditional daisies. The Gerber daisies come
in assorted colors such as fuschias, oranges, bright yellows
and reds as well as softer pinks. These flowers are typically
very hearty and hold up well in bouquets and
arrangements.
Sunflowers are an excellent selection for cheap wedding
flowers. The sizes and varieties of sunflowers can be a great
option, especially for summer weddings or relaxed receptions.
The giant varieties are often what we think of, however,
smaller sunflower varieties can be paired beautifully with a
number of colors and floral accents. Brilliant blues and deep
purples are creative matches for bright yellow. Black-eyed
Susan’s are another variety of flower that is very similar to
the size of a daisy but in the colors of a sunflower and could
make a great cost efficient alternative.
Carnations are flowers with standard and mini versions that
come in a wide range of colors but can also be dyed to match
your color pallet. These beautiful blossoms can be great
accents to a bouquet or arrangement, or stand beautifully on
their own, particularly in tight bunches that create an ornate
and delicate shape out of the paper thin petals.
Seasonal Options
Other flowers that are in season can be bought at very
reasonable prices such as tulips in the early spring, roses in
the summer and chrysanthemums during the fall season. If your
wedding is near a holiday, large quantities of holiday festive
blooms may be able to be purchased at discounted prices such as
poinsettias during the Christmas holidays and lilies near
Easter.
Inexpensive wedding flowers don’t have to look cheap. There are
many creative and unique ways to incorporate your color pallet
and overall ambiance with the use of flowers that didn’t break
the budget. Consulting a florist with an idea of your budget
and the amount of boutenirs, arrangements, centerpieces,
corsages and bouquets will help to better organize your floral
design.
