Hawaiian Wedding Themes
Finding a creative
wedding theme that reflects the personalities of a bride
and groom is sometimes one of the most difficult parts of
the planning process. When one person would like relaxed
and the other would like beautiful and elegant, it can be
hard to meet in the middle, however, Hawaiian wedding
themes can do just that. It would be difficult to find
flowers more beautiful than the tropical blooms of Hawaii
or anything more relaxed than Hawaiian dining and
entertainment. Hawaiian wedding themes can be as minimal
or elaborate as you would like and without a doubt will
be a wedding event your guests will
remember.
When You Don’t
Have Sandy Beaches and Palm Trees
Hawaiian wedding
themes do not have to take place at beachy locations with
perfect weather, a slight breeze and sand between the
toes of everyone from the bride to the last row of guests
watching the sun set behind the ocean. While of course
these are all wonderful, dreamy locations, some people
actually do get married during the winter months or at
traditional locations that don’t so much as have a
plastic palm tree. A Hawaiian themed wedding can create
an escape for a couple as well as guests with just a few
special touches.
You can create a
Hawaiian ambiance with even just a few touches from the
islands. As your guests arrive, you can have the
groomsmen and bridesmaids provide a traditional Hawaiian
greeting of lei’s made from fresh flowers or from paper
flowers in coordinating colors. You can use greenery for
much of the décor, along with bright, tropical flowers
and fabrics. Depending on your wedding site or reception
location, you may even consider using tiki torches for
lighting.
Unique Decorations
and Entertainment
Depending on the
style of your Hawaiian wedding theme, you have many ways
to represent the culture with your own personality. You
could consider having a wedding cake in the shape of a
volcano, complete with hot lava icing. You could also
have table centerpieces created out of fruit. There are
many food artists that actually carve fruit into flowers,
animals or anything you can probably imagine. You can
feature fruit in floral arrangements as
well.
Holding a luau for
a reception can include much more than tropical fruits
and roasted pig. You can often hire Hawaiian
entertainment, such as live musicians, hula dancers or
Polynesian dancers who can perform a traditional high
energy dance. Flashier shows can include dancers who use
fire in their routines, which of course would need some
pre-approval from your reception location. You could also
consider taking Hawaiian dance lessons to wow your guests
with your first dance.
Hawaiian wedding themes are a great
match for elegant but relaxed celebrations. Vibrant
tropical flowers provide for an incredible color palette
with many greens, pinks, purples and even elegant whites.
You can dazzle your guests with authentic Hawaiian
entertainment or be a little more subdued and stick to a
wonderful Hawaiian menu including fresh tropical fruits.
Your Hawaiian wedding theme is the perfect opportunity to
have a creative and memorable
event.
