Groom Speeches

Groom SpeechesThere are tons of speeches and toasts that go into a wedding. Some are more traditional than others. The groom speech is one of the more modern speeches that has come about where the groom talks after the bride has done her welcome and thank you speech. The groom’s speech can be about anything and since it’s not a traditional speech it isn’t necessarily required. This is up to the couple getting married. If the bride is shy and doesn’t want to speak the groom can even step in and take over her duties of presenting the welcome message and thanking everyone for their attendance.

Say the right words at the right time!

A groom may choose to talk about the excitement of planning this day and how much he’s looked forward to it. He might choose to speak about his beautiful blushing bride and how lucky he feels to have found someone so special to spend his life with. The options are endless as to what he can talk about. Perhaps how the two met and when he knew he was in love. Or a funny story about the two of them together. All of these are great choices. There are some things the groom should think about and do to make sure his speech is spectacular.

Do not make fun of your bride
It is the cardinal rule of the day. While this is your wedding day as a couple there is a lot of stress and pressure on the bride to bring everything together and all eyes are on her so don’t make her feel bad. Sometimes emotions can get out of hand and even the most open and humorous bride can be easily offended so be careful what you say or do as this is a day you’ll both remember for the rest of your lives.

Don’t drink too much
If you have a drink or two before you get up to speak that’s fine, but too many may cause you stutter, stumble, say something you shouldn’t or make you look like a fool. Keep it under control before the speech then you can let everything go and start the boozing if you want.

Choose appropriate subject matter
There are some things you can talk about in front of your parents and there are some things you can talk about with your friends. Often they aren’t the same subjects. Make sure whatever you choose to talk about works for all audiences present.
