Wedding Dresses – Here We Have A Bridal Gown Creator’s Point of View

Since I was a child, I loved bridal gowns. I used to sneak into my mother’s closet to look at her wedding dress when she was not home. She had no issue with showing it to me, but if she had known how many hours I spent basically drooling over it, she probably would have freaked out a little bit. I had pretty childish tastes back then – unsurprising because I was a kid. I loved bridal gowns because they looked so fluffy and soft. They were similar to cakes, and they made whoever wore them look halfway between a princess and a pastry. I couldn’t get enough.

Back when I was buying discount bridal gowns at thrift stores and wearing them to school with diverse punk rock modifications to shock my teachers, I never imagined that one day I would be a bridal designer. You see, as much as I loved wedding gowns, I was not especially enamored of wedding ceremonies. I was very independent, and I couldn’t picture spending my entire life with one boy, raising children, and living in a boring suburban corner of the world like my parents did. I wanted action and adventure. I wanted to be a park ranger or a mountain climber, or possibly a professional photographer.

One thing I did not want to be was a bride. I’ve never been a person who was totally into wedding ceremonies. I was never making plans for my dream wedding, picking out my wedding songs and writing lists of my bridal attendandants since I was 5 years old. I never heard standard love songs that people use for wedding songs on the radio and immediately exclaimed, “That’s going on my list of wedding songs!”

Nonetheless, in spite of my general lack of interest in the general concept of wedding ceremonies, I was still impressed with bridal fashion. I loved when I was able to see outdoor wedding ceremonies at the community park. We lived by a gorgeous state park complete with the lakes, rivers, and gorgeous rolling hills. There was a small wedding chapel there, and they would frequently rent it out. My current boyfriend must have thought that I was giving him messages! I made him sit there with me all day, watching the bridal party. Perhaps he thought I had dreams of long term romance, but such thoughts were farthest from my mind. I was excited about it simply from a fashion perspective.

Now that I’m getting ready for my own wedding, I’m struck by how different the experience is from that of helping other people get ready for their big day. Creating wedding gowns is easy. Even though there are vintage designs, contemporary designs, classic designs, and many other variations, it does not amount to all that much range. There are only a couple of things to keep track of, and if you love the garments it’s easy. Picking out one for yourself, on the other hand, is another matter. It’s probably the hardest part is getting married.
