Having initially sent our your ‘save the date’ cards to guests, you next step is to formally invite them. This means finally sending out your wedding invitations, which you have no doubt already put a lot of thought into choosing their design. Whereas in the past they would have been sent out three months prior to the wedding, many brides now opt to post them anything up to five months in advance. The enclosures you include with your wedding invitation are as important as the invitation itself. Here’s a guide to what you may want to include with your invitations.
Providing Directions
Failure to include direction cards with your wedding invitations could result in guests getting lost or being unclear as to where they can park their car on arrival. You may even be faced with the task of designing two direction cards if your wedding is to be held in two locations. It is not unheard of for brides to tailor the direction cards to each individual guest. These tend to be more applicable to guests that are coming from a long way away or that do not know the area.
Response Cards
Arguably the most important part of the wedding invitation (pragmatically speaking anyway) is the response cards. Once the couple received response cards form their prospective guests they then have an idea of how many people will be attending. They can then move on to the next steps of arranging the wedding such as seating plans and catering details. People love weddings and those invited will do all they can to attend your big day; however there are usually some that can’t make it.
The Menu
It is becoming increasingly popular for the couple to enclose a menu for the reception and request for the invitee to let them know what they want to eat. You can then let caters know the final numbers for each food option so that they can begin planning the finer details.
