You may be planning your own wedding, or converting it over to a wedding planner, wedding planning could be stressful, in wanting to balance your vision of the wedding with those of your family (and his!). Listed here are four rules, or recommendations, that will relieve the stress of planning for your special day.
Rule #1: Select Your Battles
At the beginning, in my own wedding planning, I thought about the regions of the wedding that were particularly important to me. If there was likely to be turmoil with my family, these were the things I was ready to go to the mat for: the venue, the officiant, the invitations and the size of the wedding. The technique, I came across, for these particular options was to consult no one in my family with the exception of my husband-to-be. Rely on your option, and move ahead.
Rule #2: Delegate and Get Over It
Somewhat associated with the first rule, if you consult your wedding party for help, do not micromanage–you’ll just create more stress on your own. Save your energy for the details of the wedding that matter most to you. If you don’t trust the members of your wedding party to respect your wishes or to understand your taste, then do not delegate duties to them, period. I made a decision to allow my wedding party select their own dresses, and it worked out excellent! I did not have to invest any time working with coordinating dresses with shoes, going to fittings, and so on.
Rule #3: Be Considerate about Spending
The cost of a wedding can simply spiral out of control because of myriad particulars that aren’t significant to the wedding itself, plus seeing the spending total rise can actually stress a bride and groom out. Do you really need those mesh bags of Jordan almonds? How many flower arrangements do you require? Are engraved party favors totally required? Do you want a carving station and a pasta station, and so on? Maybe handed hors d’oeuvres are adequate. Actually, you can skip the cocktail hour completely if you wish to, and go right to the dinner. I assure, no one will care, as long as they’re having a great time!
Rule #4: Finally, Keep It In Perspective
I’m certain you do not need a reminder but a wedding is a celebration of commitment. In the end, all that matters is that you’ve obtained your vows in front of those closest and dearest to you. The material facets of your wedding will diminish however, you and your visitors | friends | company will invariably recall the moment you and your fiance became husband and wife.
I don’t believe there is such a thing as totally stress-free wedding planning, but I bet you may come close to it. Forget about all the fantasy weddings you see on TV and create your own reality. Create a wonderful wedding by making it YOUR wedding.
