The Greatest Qualities of Black Tungsten Rings

  • October 13, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Black Tungsten Rings are attractive and unconventional rings with a lot of elegance, and mystery. They make great wedding bands for non traditional couples who want rings that are different and stand out from the generally seen gold rings, and even tungsten rings in the natural light whitish gray color. Black tungsten rings also respond very well to engraving on the interior band, since the miniscule lines created by the engraving tool can reveal white tungsten underneath or throw the letters into a dramatic shadow, giving your personal message a special gleam. There are some especially nice styles in mens Black Tungsten Rings, because men appreciate the strength and durability of tungsten and the easy transition black tungsten makes from casual to formal settings. A black ring is less overt than gold or platinum, and much preferred by alternative personalities or men who simply don’t want to wear a lot of flashy jewelry. No one should have to settle for a ring he or she doesn’t love, and black tungsten rings offer a perfect choice to several niche markets who weren’t being ideally served before.

A black tungsten ring’s black plating itself isn’t completely scratchproof because it is an anodized tungsten alloy added to the surface of the tungsten carbide ring later to give it this distinctive glowing black color, but it is very strong and regular tungsten itself will not scratch. I have a few black tungsten rings and have kept them from scratching with some simple common sense– I remove them when I work in the garden, wash dishes, have a very hands-on task at work, or do any other activity that is generally rough on the hands. When I put my black tungsten rings away, I place them in their original ring boxes. If you don’t have the box your Black Tungsten Rings came in, or you didn’t get a ring box when you purchased or received them, ring boxes and pouches are plentiful at all jewelry shops and most gift stores or department stores. Any container in which you black tungsten ring will be kept in soft fabric and separate from other jewelry is fine. The most common cause of damage to black tungsten ring occurs when the ring is stored in a box or pouch with other tungsten pieces or diamond jewelry, the only pieces that compare to the hardness of a tungsten ring.

Black tungsten rings are among the most gorgeous items I own, and their versatility and sleek appearance pull together any outfit and shine on every occasion.

Princess Cut Diamond Stud Earrings Are a Wardrobe Necessity For Ladies

Diamond Stud Earrings, a very traditional birthday and holiday gift for the ladies in your life, are a staple of every elegant woman’s wardrobe. These classic sparklers, though considered small and understated, are always a tasteful and pretty complement to any wardrobe and occasion. The modern practice of giving ladies diamond stud earrings as a gift may have started with Tiffany and Co., but there is no need to pay Tiffany’s prices, as the same quality of diamonds are now available from many online retailers with far less markup than the famous names but no less actual value. They are a hit at family gatherings where gifts are exchanged because they are sure to impress. Girlfriends, wives, and mothers are thrilled to receive diamond stud earrings from their loved ones, and small diamond stud earrings also make wonderful graduation gifts for daughters.

Round Diamond Stud Earrings are the most traditional choice, but modern designers and fashionable women are not as bound by convention currently as in the past, so there are now many cuts and shapes of diamond stud earrings available. Personally, I find the many carat sizes and styles of Princess Cut Diamond Stud Earrings unbelievably stunning. To really stand out, diamond stud earrings can also be made in cuts like oval, marquise, pear, and teardrop shapes. These breathtaking gems are most commonly set in three or four prong settings of 14kt white gold, which nicely accents the light color of the diamonds. For wearers with metal sensitivities, diamond studs with platinum settings are recommended, as platinum is hypoallergenic and unfavorable reactions to the nickel alloy in 14kt white gold can be especially strong since the post of an earring actually goes through a part of the body (as opposed to a ring or necklace which only goes around.) Platinum is also the #1 choice for those seeking jewelry of the very best quality, as it is the most valuable of the precious metals.

Diamond studs can also be set in other ways, and this is often seen with princess and square cut diamonds that look amazing surrounded by a secure bezel setting in a diamond stud. Diamond stud earrings are made with either the normal push back fasteners, or a more secure back that screws on, which I recommend particularly with larger diamonds– they are both more valuable and heavier, so a little more involvement in putting them on is well worth the catastrophe of losing one of your precious earrings!

Customs in Mens Wedding Rings Through the Ages

  • October 13, 2009 at 10:41 am

Although the concept of mens wedding rings as we recognize them developed somewhat recently, the roots of the tradition of wedding rings for both genders can in fact be traced back thousands of years and through many different cultures. Anthropologists have found evidence stating that the first womens and mens wedding rings wrapped around the waist, wrists, or extremities rather than the ring finger that is now custom, and were made from any number of materials ranging from woven grasses and fabrics to carved stone, and later on from metals. This is because in ancient times, before there was much medical knowledge and people lived much more closely with illness and mortality than we do today, it was believed that the spirit could simply flow out of the body, and these primitive womens and men’s wedding bands were exchanged by people hoping to anchor their loved ones’ souls to Earth.

Over time, other traditions gained in momentum, and due to a combination of numerous factors in social norms, religion, and fashion, mens wedding rings fell by the wayside and became less common until the first half of the twentieth century. The revival of Mens Wedding Rings came with the advent of the second World War when an overwhelming number of men were drafted or voluntarily joined the Armed Forces, and most married American and British soldiers shipping out to combat promised to wear rings as a public acknowledgment of the wives and families awaiting their safe return. Wedding rings had long been a matter of choice for everyone by this time, as marriage itself was legally a matter of choice rather than an outdated transfer of so-called property, and the reasoning was that the women had always worn wedding rings to make this public declaration and would continue to do so even while their husbands were away rather than remove them and appear free to other men (and many married women also traveled overseas to assist the Allies as well), so a “real man” who was honorable would be happy to show his commitment to a loyal and loving spouse in the same way by wearing simple, classic Mens Wedding Rings.

This trend stuck and now it is more common than not for a married man to wear a ring. Even men who would never consider wearing another piece of jewelry take no issue with Mens Wedding Bands, as there are so many simple styles available and a wedding band’s meaning is an obvious statement of commitment rather than jewelry worn for fashion.
