Wedding Reception Table
Centrepieces
Flowers are traditional favorites for
wedding reception table centrepieces but there are far
many more elegant, creative and cost-friendly options to
be considered. Whether you have your centrepieces
professionally made or you decide to create all your
wedding reception table centrepieces yourself, these
table decorations are an opportunity to provide
memorable, customized arrangements to compliment your
wedding theme.
Candles
Candles can be a very cost efficient
and elegant centrepiece while providing warm lighting to
enhance the ambiance of your reception. A group of
candles in various sizes and shapes, potentially wrapped
with ribbon to match your color scheme are all items easy
to make. By using special craft paint intended for use on
candles, you can write words to commemorate your occasion
such as Love, Joy and Forever and offer to let your
guests take a candle home with them. Be sure to consider
flammability issues when adhering anything to the
candles. You should also re-think the use of candles if
you are having an outdoor reception and be sure to check
the candle policy of your reception site ahead of
time.
Potted
Flowers
Instead of using cut flowers for your
wedding reception table centrepieces, try using potted
flowers. You can purchase flats of popular, colorful
flowers and place them in individual small decorative
pots. You can cover exposed dirt with craft moss,
marbles, glass rocks or river rocks. Using a colored
cloth napkin to match your pallet, place the flowers in a
circle so they look like a single arrangement instead of
individual pots. These centrepieces can also double as
take home gifts for your guests.
Pictures
If you are having planned seating
arrangements, it is a wonderful detail to provide copies
of photos with you and the guests. If it’s a table of
people that are friends of your parents, then fun
childhood pictures of the bride and groom are an option.
Taking this level of detail makes a guest understand how
much they have truly meant to your life. Instead of using
frames, try using decorative wire photo holders, being
careful to realize a table is usually round so the photos
should have a backing on them of colored paper matching
your pallet that may have a description of when and where
the photo was from.
Fun and a Little
Quirky
If your personality doesn’t mesh well
with traditional expectations, wedding reception table
centrepieces are an excellent and subdued way to express
these quirks. There are many ways to use items such as
live, colorful Beta or goldfish in clear glass vases with
flower arrangements sitting on top if you want to
surprise your guests with something that starts out
looking traditional until you get close enough to see the
fish. You can also fill one or several clear glass
containers per table with colourful candies, sweetarts or
gumballs, collecting the containers before the night’s
end and placing them on a single table along with small
paper bags for take home sweets for your
guests.
Your wedding reception table
centrepieces are an opportunity to share your personality
with your guests in a fun or traditional way. If you
happen to have one of those groups of bridesmaids that
want to help- let them- it will free up some of your
valuable time and save you money from needing to hire a
professional to carry out your design. Whatever you
choose, keep it in mind about what you plan to do with 10
or 30 or more centrepieces once your wedding is over, a
thought which can help you narrow down your design
decision.
The wedding
reception flower arrangement are an important part of
the reception.
