Wedding reception menus

Weddings are difficult to deal with…what with all the decisions to make and organizing to do. Among these decisions is the decision about the menu. This can be the most stressful part of your wedding, choosing the right kind of food to suit the tastes of all your guests.

Keep it simple and comfortableWedding Reception Menus

Remember that while you are choosing the menu for your wedding, you need to keep it simple. Serve comfort food. Just because it’s a wedding reception does not mean you cannot serve comfort food, just serve it in a different manner. If you like hamburgers, serve mini sirloin hamburgers. Miniature foods are picking up in popularity as they are easy to eat. Mini quiches, mini pizza, mini pot pies and even min salads are some of the options. You could also organize separate food stations, if you are making it a buffet style wedding reception. You can also include a special station, to cater to children, like a taco station or a chocolate fountain. Keep it creative yet simple.

Theme it up

Have a theme for your wedding. The theme could be anything you like. It could be a summer theme, a spring theme or a winter theme wedding. Cater your food according to the theme of the wedding. If it’s a summer theme, have your wedding reception near a pool and serve seafood. If it’s a spring theme, have a garden wedding with the food being a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. And if winter is the way for you to go, the food could be suited accordingly. The theme of your wedding could also be according to nationality, if you or your spouse is Italian, then your wedding reception menu could be Italian.

A cheesy affair

You can serve a variety of cheese as appetizers or it could even be one of the main courses of your wedding reception menu. You can serve various types of cheese that America is now proudly producing. Another way of including cheese in your wedding reception menu could be if you are having a buffet. This way you could have one table only for different types of cheese.

More than just wine

Serve wine, champagne and a whole variety of cocktails for your wedding reception. There is a wide range of wines and champagnes that can be served for the wedding reception. For those who want to have more fun, you can serve popular cocktails. Another way of selecting a wedding reception menu is by serving only appetizers and cocktails or wines. This could be a diversion from the traditional wedding reception menu.

While selecting your menu, make sure you keep in mind the kind of budget you have. Also it would be wise if you had a sampling of all the foods you are going to serve at your wedding reception.

Another important feature is the wedding reception table centrepiece...
