Themed Wedding Cakes

Many couples now do not want a traditional white wedding, they want something to suit their own personal tastes to make the day even more special.  A themed wedding needs a themed wedding cake and their is now no reason why you can't have exactly what you dream of.  Icing can be made into just about anything now so there is no reason why you would have anything on the cake that was not edible.  Wedding cakes can also be whatever shape and size you require, you are not limited to the tradional three tier cake with white icing, if you have an idea of what you would like then do a quick sketch and ask, don't feel like you have to choose a design that has been done before!

Beach Theme Wedding Cake

A beach theme wedding cake can be whatever your heart desires, it could be just beach colours of blues and yellows, or something more elaborate with blue water lapping around a sandy beach with palm trees as an arch for the bride and groom figurines.  A beach themed wedding may also be based on a single beach item, such as a starfish or shells, which will be used in all decorations like a logo so this will be the main symbol of the beach themed wedding cake.  Sandcastle wedding cakes are a favourite for beach weddings as they are fun and can be done in so many ways, but you may not think this is right for you if you would like a more romantic feel for the day.

Although having a beach themed wedding does not mean you will be on the beach, it maybe the case so think carefully about where the cake will be situated.  If you are hoping for a hot sunny day then think of the effect of the heat on your cake, an ice-cream may not be a good option!  If you are having a tropical wedding away from home then either you or your wedding planner needs to do some research in to many thing that may cause distress during the day, such as flies and bugs, or strong winds causing sands to fly.  These are things that could be major points for the wedding cake and you may need to source out a covering or netting to protect your precious cake from disaster.
